The awkward part nobody talks about
You set up the wallet. You figured out the chain. You even generated a payment link. Then you freeze — because now you have to actually ask a client to pay you in crypto, and it feels weird. It isn't. Stablecoin payments are normal for thousands of international freelancers; the client just needs a clear, professional request. This guide gives you that request, ready to paste.
What a good crypto payment request includes
- The amount and token. "650 USDC" — not "crypto" or "stablecoin." Be exact.
- The network. "on Base" (low fees) or "on Polygon." Pick one and state it; don't make the client guess.
- The destination. A payment link is best (pre-fills everything); a plain
0xaddress works too. - Why it's fine. One sentence: instant settlement, no chargebacks, no bank delays.
Copy-paste template
Swap the brackets. Send this as your invoice note or a short email:
Hi [Name], Thanks for the approved [project/milestone]. Here's the payment request: Amount: 650 USDC Network: Base Pay here: [your EIP-681 payment link or 0x address] USDC settles in seconds on Base with near-zero fees — no bank delay, no chargebacks. Once it's sent, just reply with the tx hash and I'll hand off the final files. Appreciate it, [You]
That's the whole message. No apology, no over-explaining. You're offering a faster payment rail, not asking for a favor.
Make it bulletproof with a payment link
A long address is easy to mistype. Generate a click-to-pay EIP-681 payment link that pre-fills the amount and token in the client's wallet. The Crypto Invoice Studio does this and also produces a printable invoice with a QR code — handy when the client's finance team wants something on letterhead.
Confirm, then deliver
When the client replies with a tx hash, paste it into any block explorer for that chain (Basescan, Arbiscan, Polygonscan). You'll see the transfer in seconds. No holds, no "pending review." Then send the work. For repeat clients, the Crypto Freelancer Starter Pack bundles a multi-chain income tracker so you never lose track of who paid what.
